New boy Euan Spark talks about his year long contract at Dunfermline.

The nineteen year old told the website:-

"I left Dundee United last season when we did not have a manager. There was a bit of confusion so I left. I had been there from the age of nine, so that was ten years."

This is just his second club and home is in the village of Inchbare near Brechin. Fortunately one of his former United team mates signed for Hearts so he has been staying with him. Euan had received offers of part time football but he was hopefully of a full time contract somewhere so participated in the `Exit Trials`.

"I trained for ten days there and there was a game at the end of it. A couple of days after that I got a phone call from John Potter asking if I would come in and train. I was in for a week or two before the manager made a decision and said that he would like to keep me.

"I was delighted because when I was on loan at Forfar last season I had always remembered when we played Dunfermline thinking when I left United I would like to come here.

"It is a big club and even when I was young I always remember Dunfermline being such a big club. Obviously what has happened lately has been bad but the club is going up.

"I played fourteen games at Forfar but I had a problem with my shoulder and missed starting the game here, I only came on for the last five minutes. It was good to get a taste of East End Park."

Euan had only played three times in the United first team so he was happy to get the loan to Forfar for experience. The new boy only knew Evan Horne when he arrived at Dunfemline because Evan had also been in the youths at United. He paid tribute to John Potter however for making it easy for him to fit in.

"He is a very good coach and has looked after me. Before I signed he had been speaking to my mum and making sure that she is happy with me being down here. Potts has really looked after me and that probably made me sign here, for us coming from up there that means a lot to us."

Like all the new signings ambition is a first team place and he knows to do that he will need to catch the attention of Allan Johnston. He continued describing his attributes:-

"I can play either right back or left back and comfortable in either position although I have mainly played on the right. I scored at Partick Thistle in my first game as a trialist but I only scored one in all my time at Dundee United. When I signed the manager said that I had impressed him but it is up to me to improve myself and get into the first team."

He acknowledged that with Ryan Williamson ahead of him he has a big task:- "I have played against Ryan for a very long time and he is a very good player so it is going to be tough. I will give it my best shot."

Asked to describe his style of play Euan said:- "I am a good defender but like Ryan I like to get forward and get crosses into the box."
