Joe Cardle making it happen

"With a good fit squad I think we will have a good chance.

Joe Cardle is looking forward to life in the Championship, he is enjoying his football in his second stint at Dunfermline and hopes to continue creating and scoring goals like he did last season. After the impressive demolition of Livingston on Saturday he said:-

"Obviously it is all about minutes on the pitch. I am just glad to get another 90 under my belt and the result was good. I am delighted to come away with a 5-1 win but the boys did well.

"I thought the first five or ten minutes we were not really at it but I think we picked up from there and as we scored more goals we got better I thought."

Scoring goals was the secret of the Pars success last season and Joe recalled how the number of goals scored early on in the season was important come the end.

"As long as we can start the season like that again we will be happy. We just have to keep creating chances and hopefully putting them away."

Joe made 40 appearances in the Championship for Raith Rovers after he was forced to leave Dunfermline when they went into administration in March 2013. He is not likely to underestimate the magnitude of the task facing Allan Johnston`s team this coming season.

"We are just going to take it one game at a time. It is still very early, we have to sign a few more players. We will have to weigh it all up once we have the full squad together. With a good fit squad I think we will have a good chance.

"We have a good nucleus of a squad and if we add to it it is going to make it bigger and better. If that happens it happens, if not I think we have got a good enough team as it is. We are still in pre season, the boys are getting used to each other and I know it has taken us three games but to get five goals in a pre season game has been a good day."

Gavin Reilly scored two goals at Livingston both with assists from Joe Cardle. He added:-

"He is on the pitch to score goals and I know that he has done that most of his career so hopefully he can do that again this season."

The first half goals came after Joe Cardle and Rhys McCabe in particular turned up the heat on Livingston, the 29 year old continued:-

"That is my job. I need to make things happen, my first time at the club I was just an out and out winger but compare that to last season when I was coming into the pitch, into these holes, making chances and scoring goals. It has added to my game so hopefully I can do the same again this season. If I can keep scoring I will be happy, that is two in pre season. I am enjoying my football, that is why I am here. Hopefully I can continue on from my performances last season."

The League season cannot come fast enough for the Dunfermline players with games against Hibs, Raith Rovers and Falkirk particularly appealing. Joe continued:-

"I am looking forward to all the games, there will be a couple of derbies in there as well that we are excited about. Some big games to look forward to and a big difference from last year.

"We have just got to be at it. We have to work well during the week and produce it come three o clock on a Saturday."
