The final count up
Saturday, 14th May 2016For three years, the public have been invited to help Save The Pars, Buy The Pars and Keep The Pars through 150 collection cans in pubs, shops, restaurants etc in West Fife.
A small group of Pars fans (Bob Barkway, Dave Blackburn, Elaine Brebner, Josephine Chesby, Jean Nelson, Jim Nelson, Christine Scott and John Simpson) have conscientiously counted and accounted for every penny, and the final countup took place this week. £930 was collected, bringing the total to £20,772.
All the cans have now been withdrawn from non-DAFC premises, so that those who want to give to other good causes in these locations can do so.
A few cans will remain at EEP in the club shop, function suites etc, and will be re-branded "Manager's Fund" - money donated will go into a fund ring-fenced for use by Allan Johnston for occasional purchases over and above the norm.
The fund will still be subject to the same financial checks that were in place during the Collection Can Project.
