Moff would love to be back

Michael Moffat revealed just what a pleasure it was to get his hands on the League One trophy:-

"It was a long time coming. We had the league won for five or six weeks and it was just a celebration for all the hard work that we have done.

"It was great to get the families on at the end and the boys will party tonight I'm sure.

"It has been hard having won the league so early. Results have not been great in the last couple of weeks but we have done well over the season. Performances have dipped a wee bit but you can understand why. It is good to eventually get it over with and be presented with the trophy. It is great to get your hands on it.

"I got promoted before at Ayr through the play offs but winning the league is a lot better than that and you get the medal at the end of the day. It has been a great season."

Michael had two lean years but has had much more to celebrate this season. He blossomed under Allan Johnston's leadership:-

"The new manager came in and that was a fresh start for everybody that was here. Boys who were here with another year on their deal had a year to prove that they were good enough. We have done that this year and from the start of the season we have been the best team in the league.

"We have been wiping the board with teams and it is good for it all eventually to come together. That was the plan last season to win the league but it did not go to plan. Obviously this season it had gone a lot better, deserved winners and finished well ahead in the end."

Asked for a highlight from the season in which he made 36 starts, seven appearances off the bench and scored 15 goals, Moff recalled the game against his former club Ayr United in December:-

"We won 2-1 after being down to ten men for a while when Joe was sent off. Hoppy scored late on, that was a big turning point because Ayr were on a great run at the time. It was a massive game because we had beat them in the cup the week before.

"After that they fell away for a while. We just kicked on and went from strength to strength. If we had lost that we would have been five or six points behind but winning put us top of the league and we have never looked back since."

Michael scored the opener in that 2-1 win at Somerset Park and he added:-

"It was a rare header but my first goal against Ayr had been coming a while. I had been getting a bit of stick so it was eventually good to be that monkey off my back."

The Pars striker confirmed that he would love to be back at Dunfermline next season but the out of contract player could only say:-

"It is not my decision, it is up to the manager. Hopefully I have done enough throughout the season to stay here but we will just have to wait and see."
