Kenny’s Sponsorship Goal is reached
Monday, 25th Apr 2016Pars benefit from "wonderful and supportive ex-pat fan with a unique sponsorship".
Pars fans may remember that our club was approached at the start of the season by one of our wonderful and supportive ex-pat fans with a unique sponsorship.
Kenny Mitchell agreed to sponsor £5 for every goal scored by the Pars this season, and if the team managed to reach the magical figure of 100 goals he would provide sponsorship for £1,000!
Well, Kenny was a man of his word and duly handed over a cheque for £1,000 to DAFC Managing Director, Ross McArthur at the Elizabethan Travel Club Player of the Year Dinner on Saturday.
In previous seasons, Kenny has sponsored the Pars through the ex-pat season ticket initiative, and last year he sponsored the updates on dafc.net.
Kenny explains “I wanted to do something completely different this season, and I was racking my brains for ideas, but I hit upon the idea to sponsor the team for £5 a goal. Having seen that in the early 1970's we scored around 95 goals I decided to sponsor along those lines.”
Ross McArthur, Managing Director, DAFC commented
"As highlighted before, when Kenny approached me I thought his idea was terrific, but with the early season form of the team I did check a couple of times that he was sure he wanted to proceed!
"Once again I would like to thank Kenny for his generous offer and I know it is not the first time he has contributed to our club’s cause. It was great to see Kenny on Saturday, with him being back in Dunfermline, and I am sure he had a great night at the Lizzie event”.
