Scott Robinson made his Dunfermline debut against Forfar Athletic on Saturday and he claimed that it was really important to get back playing again. The 24 year old has made 13 appearances for Kilmarnock this season but this was his first start since January, he commented:-
"It was my first game in a while and it was good to get back out there. Hopefully I will be involved until the end of the season now whether that is starting or coming on as a sub. I am definitely here until the summer, if it turns out to be beyond that then that's great. Time will tell."
The player, who as a free agent, signed as an amateur just so that he could play for Dunfermline. He compared the club with his experiences at his previous clubs Hearts and Kilmarnock.
"I am hoping to stay here because I have loved my time here so far, it has been great. There is not a lot of difference to me. The boys here are a really talented bunch, you see that in how comfortably they have won the league. I am sure that they will do really well in the Championship next year."
Scott had made over 100 league appearances but this was his first in League One. He gave his impression on the match against Forfar:-
"They have picked up good results in the last few games, the manager showed us the video of them beating Ayr and Peterhead so we knew what to expect. We knew that we were in for a tough game."
Having come off after 79 minutes Scott like the rest of the stadium looked on hoping that Michael Moffat would convert the added time penalty and seal a win but there was to be no match winning debut for him.
"When Moff missed the first one I thought here we go he will get the second one. Unfortunately he missed that to get his hattrick. He was great today, he took his two goals brilliantly and on another day I am sure that he would have scored the penalty."
Coming to Dunfermline re-united Scott with Brad McKay who he knows from his days at Hearts and from Scottish internationals from U15 to U21, with Rhys McCabe as well.
"All the boys have made me feel welcome and I am getting on with everyone. I picked up a couple of injuries earlier this season so I am here to get my club career back on track because I have had a couple of hard seasons."
Dunfermline are possibly strongest in their midfield options so Scott is well aware that it will be difficult to earn a place in that role:-
"Competition can only healthy for the club. Everyone wants to pay of course so I do not know how big the manager's squad will be next year. Everyone will be looking to impress him and be here next season."
Since Scott has arrived at Dunfermline he has enjoyed the really positive atmosphere at the club:-
"The weekend I came in they went and won the league on the Saturday. Everyone was buzzing. That was my first game watching and it is a great crowd that turns out here. That will only get bigger if when the club gets promoted they are challenging at the right end of the Championship for play offs or whatever."
Scott's only experience of grounds outside the top two divisions has only been in pre season and one trip to Ochilview in the Scottish League Cup but he did notice a difference when on the bench at Cliftonhill last Saturday:-
"The boys had told me what to expect and no, the pitch was not great. It just cut up, the ball was bobbling about and there was mud everywhere. When you look at East End Park this is a club that belongs higher.
"I have played against Dunfemline a few times in the SPL and in a few pre season friendlies. Hearts always used to come here for pre season fixtures. I have played here maybe four times now so I am familiar with the stadium."
