Sean Murdoch appeals for others to follow

"There wasn't much negotiation to be honest, I knew I wanted to be here.

Sean Murdoch spoke to the website after signing his new two year contract at Dunfermline. The 29 year old stopper commented:-

"I am delighted; the manager spoke to me last week not long after we secured the championship and he was looking to get me on board for next season. There wasn't much negotiation to be honest, I knew I wanted to be here.

"I started my career at Dunfermline and I really enjoyed last season. I think everyone in the squad has enjoyed it as well so as soon as the manager talked about a two year contract extension I was delighted to sign it.

"Everyone has their own demands wage-wise but hopefully all the guys can get on board because I think what we have created here is something fantastic. If we can keep everyone with a few additions as well, I think we could have a real go next season and be up the top end of the table. There is no reason why we shouldn't be. I would urge everyone to sign."

The 2015-2016 season has been a good one at Dunfermline with the objective of winning the title secured with five matches remaining. If the nucleus of this season's team - and a few quality additions, can be encouraged to be here for next then the Championship season could be another good one. Sean has already been eyeing up the possible opponents:-

"It depends who comes down from the Premiership and of course who stays in the Championship. When the season is done then we can have a look at that but it will be tough, a lot harder than it has been this season.

"I think our aim has to be the play offs. Dunfermline are a big club and they should be in the Premier League so hopefully next season we can be pushing to get where Dunfermline belong."

Sean admitted that this season has been his most successful:-

"I have had some enjoyable seasons but this has been the most enjoyable season. Maybe because I have been playing regularly. I have been at some big clubs but not had a consistent number of games. I think everyone is aware of that.

"I think most of the lads would probably say the same. Especially when you are winning games week in week out, it does make a big difference."

In tomorrow's article Sean looks forward to facing Forfar.
