So Hoppy together
Monday, 4th Apr 2016David Hopkirk says everyone is just wanting to do well and stay together
David Hopkirk spoke to the media at Coatbridge on Saturday. He reflected:-
"It is always hard to come here, the park is not the best and I don't think we have won here this season. We just dug in and we need to try and win every game until the end of the season. We did that with Faiss helping us out big time again."
Do you feel that holding out to win like that is the mark of champions?
"We have won the league but we just want to keep going. The gaffer has made that clear and we will go into every game trying to win so that we can take the momentum into next season."
You are all playing for new contracts so it is important individually to prove that one is deserved?
"I do not know what is happening with me personally. I have not spoken to the gaffer yet but everyone is just wanting to do well and stay together. It is a great bunch of boys and a great club as well so we will see what happens. The fans are brilliant too. They come to every game home and away no matter where it is."
For David Hopkirk Saturday's match was just his 18th start in 32 appearances for Dunfermline, just his seventh start this season but consecutive starts for the first time since September. He revealed that his early substitution last Saturday was due to a back injury that had prevented him training last week.
"I was shocked to start but I would like a run of games. I need five or six games, coming on for ten or fifteen minutes it is hard to get going, it is like a warm up. You just have to do your best. With the boys like Joe Cardle and Faiss doing well I cannot moan, I just have to do what I can when I come on."
Hoppy smiled when he was reminded that he was provided with some good chances to get on the scoresheet against Albion:-
"The gaffer moved me upfront and I could have done better but that comes with games as well."
