Reaction from Dunfermline Athletic's Managing Director

- - Listen to this Ross McArthur interview

Speaking exclusively to the club website after the 3-1 win over Brechin City, DAFC Managing Director Ross McArthur admitted that clinching the Ladbrokes League One was a 'surreal feeling'.

"It hasn't really sunk in. We were sitting in the Directors Box and, I won't name him but somebody started a rumour that Peterhead had scored. We thought that was it.

"This is just fantastic, it has been a long journey over the last few years and I am just delighted that we got over the line. It is a very emotional day for everyone; everybody is working together, we are all trying to move the club forward. There is a togetherness within the club and it is sweet for everybody associated with the club, the supporters, the sponsors, the players, the backroom staff everybody.

"There are so many volunteers that help the club during the week and on match days so this is for everybody really.

"It is all about moving the club forward now, start planning and make arrangements now for next season. We need to try and get the management team and players signed up for next season. There is a lot of work now starting but at least we have certainty which is what we wanted.

"Everybody knows where we were at the end of last season; everybody is out of contract - it is not ideal, particularly when we have been playing the type of football that we have. Obviously the players are going to attract interest from elsewhere.

"We are a victim of the circumstances of where the club was at the end of last season. We want to get on with that as soon as possible but we are lucky that we are the first team in Britain I believe to win a league. Hopefully we can steal a march on everybody now and hope that the boys like being here and stick around next season."

Allan Johnston recognises Dunfermline as a big club with ambition and potential will he be the first target?

"Definitely, yes. Allan and I have had a number of meetings over the last few weeks and months. That is the first thing. I have paid credit to a lot of people there but it is all about leadership and Allan has come on a really professionalised the football club. He has brought a certain standard in terms of how the players train, how they play, the intensity and the fitness. He has done a fantastic job for the club.

"I see week in week out how hard he works and again it is all credit to Allan, Sandy, John, Mo, Kenny, Gary and everybody behind the scenes. It is a team here and if we can all keep together and move forward together I think we have a good chance in the Championship next season. It is all to look forward to."
