Goalscorers show the way at Brechin
Monday, 22nd Feb 2016Pars scorers were Little and Large
Josh Falkingham was happy to take the three points from Saturday's game at Brechin.
"That was the biggest thing especially at this stage in the season. With the high standards that we have set and the amount of chances and good play that we had especially in the first half, we could quite easily have been four or five up.
"Fair play to Brechin, they got a goal, and it gave them a lift, from a corner which is disappointing for us to concede. Then in the second half we did not make it easy for ourselves but we still had enough chances to put the game to bed. In the end we grounded it out well and got the three points."
Josh felt that Michael Paton should expect a lot of stick when he sees the video replay of his amazing 58th minute miss:-
"He is keeping his head up and he has already told them to cut the video already. Listen, he will get plenty of stick for that miss. He wants to see it himself I think because he wants to know just exactly what happened as well. I think he just shut his eyes!
"That's football and it happens, it will end up on a DVD somewhere and further down the years we will all have a laugh about it."
Josh got the Pars off to a great start opening the scoring in six minutes. He felt that he should maybe have scored more:-
"At the start of the second half I should maybe have done better with that chance and hit the target. Then Moff just miskicked one and I got in front of the keeper and tried to flick it in. When I look back on it I might think that I should have done a little better with that. I am just glad that I am getting in those positions. I have only scored twice this season but would like to get a few more."
For the scoresheet this week it was the Little and Large Show for as well as the diminutive Josh the other Pars scorer was Big Ben. The pair might well be burning the ears of their third flat mate this week:-
"The big man has done well and living with him as well there will be a good bit of banter in the flat. With Faiss not scoring, and he normally scores every week, he has given me and Ben a little go and we will be telling him. If he puts one in next week all will be forgotten."
Josh reflected feelings in the dressing room as he left Glebe Park with three points:-
"It is a tough place to have come, they are fighting for their lives given the position that they are in. They made it difficult for us, especially in the second half. They had a couple of chances that could easily have gone in and then it is a totally different scoreline.
"We are really pleased that we dug it out on a heavy pitch but things like that you just have to put at the back of your head and three points are the main thing."
