Craig Reid joins Dunfermline

Dunfermline Athletic have signed defender Craig Reid until the end of the season. The 29 year old was released yesterday by Motherwell and Allan Johnston has moved quickly to sign Craig who played alongside him at Queen of the South. The new signing has played for Scotland at under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels.
Reid was loaned out to St Mirren in October last year and played 6 matches for the Buddies. He should be recognisable to Pars fans since he has played in sixteen matches against Dunfermline including all four of Morton's league matches in season 2012-13, all four against Queen of the South in 2010-11, and one League Cup and three league games in 2009-10, two league games in 2008-09.
Craig began his career with Celtic but like so many youths a successful time with the Hoops youth and reserve set up didn’t translate to a first team career at Parkhead. A product of Ardrossan boys club TASS Thistle, Craig was at Celtic for five years.
During season 2007-08 Reid was loaned to First Division Stirling Albion and on 1st September 2007 he made his senior debut in a 3-3 draw with Livingston. Reid played in 13 league matches during his time at Forthbank Stadium including two against Dunfermline.
In the January transfer window of 2008, Craig left Celtic to sign for Queen of the South where he would impress over the next four and a half years. Queens progressed to the 2008 Scottish Cup Final but Reid was unable to play because he was cup-tied having played for Stirling Albion in a previous round of the competition. During that time Reid would turn out more than 100 times for the Doonhamers and play European football when the Dumfries side met FC Nordsjælland in the UEFA Cup.
In July 2012 Craig moved to Greenock Morton on a one year deal where he played his part in their promotion push. In the end the Cappielow side finished runners up to Partick and Reid left at the conclusion of his contract.
Trials with both Motherwell and Coventry failed to secure a deal during the summer of 2013 and after the transfer window closed Craig re-signed with Morton on a short-term deal until the end of the year.
When Motherwell found themselves short of cover at right back, Stuart McCall went back for the now unattached Reid to sign him on a deal to close of the 2013-14 campaign. Craig’s reward for those fine few months in claret and amber was a two year contract with at Fir Park.
Craig has played most of his games as a right back but can cover in central defence as well.
