"You know what it is like, you make a mistake and you hope to make amends

Brad McKay had an eventful Dunfermline debut scoring an equaliser within 30 minutes of conceding a penalty. He told the media:-

"I thought I started slowly in the game and slowly as a team. Second half was far far better and I think the boys were disappointed not to come away with a win. With the chances we had in the second half I thought we could have buried them.

"The boys were disappointed in the dressing room because they put a lot into the game and I thought we had them on the ropes for long spells of the second half. It could have gone either way and credit to the boys fitness, credit to the boys in the team."

To give away a penalty was a real disappointment to the player signed on loan from St Johnstone on Friday:-

"Other than getting sent off in your debut I don't think there is anything worse. I didn't want to let the boys down but hopefully I made amends with the header for the second half goal. That is what you hope to do after making a mistake like that."

Brad talked through his goal which was the first to be scored for the Pars this season by a central defender from a corner kick:-

"Michael Paton put in good balls all game. We just needed to get the movement right in the box. At half time we spoke about a couple of movements and it has paid off. You know what it is like, you make a mistake and you hope to make amends whether it is after the mistake or in the second half. It was a bonus to get the equaliser but you don't want to give away penalties, you do not want to make mistakes but football has its ups and downs."

Football had brought Brad to Dunfermline on the eve of the cup tie and it really was a case of meeting a team of total strangers, he continued:-

"I did not know one single player but the boys have been great. I came in Tuesday, I came in Friday signed in the morning, trained in the afternoon but as you can see the boys are fit. They were terrific - Faiss was a different class, a joy to watch and a joy to play with."

The 22 year old defender was just focussed on the attacking move when he conceded the penalty. He claimed that he did not know what had happened to Jason Talbot who was felled in the lead up to the goal.

"If there was a foul it was difficult for the referee to keep up with play when it is a counterattack. People come together but I just try and do my job at the back. Obviously I never did because I gave the penalty away. I cannot comment on the incident because I never saw it."

Brad has been keeping fit in the under 20s and in training and ruled out lack of sharpness as a cause of his penalty conceding mistake that took down Raffaele De Vita:-

"I thought that he was going to hit the shot. I tried to block it, continued to slide and have taken him right out. I knew straight away that it was a penalty."

The new man is keen to be a part of Dunfermline's promotion challenge, he said:-

"It was one of the main attractions as well. They are doing well, winning games and teams that are winning have teams coming to watch them. Teams have been watching Faiss I believe and rightly so because I thought he was terrific."

The Scottish Cup tie is still very much alive and Brad concluded with his experience of going to Victoria Park, Dingwall or the Global Energy Stadium that is now known as:-

"It is a tough place to go, I have been there a few times and it is a tight park with the fans right at the side. They are a good side but I think we can match them."
