A Poem for Norrie

“WE DID IT FOR NORRIE”
Brian McCormack from Kirkcaldy kindly took time out to write to our club with a fantastic poem about “Mr Dunfermline”.
We thought it would be good to share this with Pars Supporters, as it captures the spirit of Norrie, and it will also be proudly displayed in the Norrie Exhibition. Thanks to Brian.
Has auld Dunfermline seen his like
He tackled like a hungry tyke
An left them buckled in the fight
Sae sad and sorry
A diamond in a sea o’ dross
We’ll never yet get ower oor loss
A Par, a patriot, a boss
Oor ain big Norrie
He stood above a towering man
Never was an also ran
Prepared to take, carry the can
Through tempests foray
Stood for honesty and truth
Every inch nail and tooth
A fine example tae oor youth
Oor ain big Norrie
Colossal in the dressing room
His voice was like a cannon boom
A sly joke tae dispel the gloom
Go get yer quarry
The jersey says that we can win it
But if yer hert is no just in it
I’ll sub ye noo this very minute
Quo he big Norrie
His spirit’s blawin through the stand
He drew a line upon the sand
Cross it and you’re in my hand
You know the story
How he loved to play the game
And he left a burning flame
Lift a glass and toast his name
Oor ain big Norrie
