12/12/15: "We just have to keep up the momentum and make sure that we win games week after week."

Allan Johnston felt that his side were the better in the first half and deserved to take the lead through Michael Moffat in 33rd minute.

"We scored the first goal but were then disappointed to lose a goal from a corner. With Andy Geggan being out this week we were short a bit height-wise. You could see that they caused us problems because of that.

"In the second half the big decision was obviously Joe (Cardle) getting sent off. It is hard to see on the video but we we were just trying to see it there. It certainly looks as though McLauchlan has left his left trailing. It looks as though he caught Joe as he went down; so I don't know if it is even a booking to be fair, it is really harsh. Obviously we need to see it again on the video.

"Then he got sent off, there are a lot of boys pushing and shoving him. Joe just tried to brush people off but he paid the price and got sent off. After that I thought the boys were resilient, they defended really well.

"Ayr never really cut us open too often, there were a couple of scary moments towards the end but the boys gave everything for the cause. You could see the supporters went home happy.

"Hoppy (David Hopkirk) came on and scored a great goal as well. The ball was passed really quick, he ran on behind and it was a great finish with a lot of composure when he gets there. To be fair to him he has been scoring a lot of goals recently whether it be the reserves or the first team. It is great to see him getting such an important goal."

An important goal and an important win one would hope but Allan Johnston would only refer to the two managers pre match comments:-

"There are a lot of games still to be played and it doesn't matter who wins today but obviously you would rather get the three points. Look at Ayr now, they have lost their last two games both against us so it is how you respond to that as well.

"They have not been in that situation all year and they are under pressure to go and win games. We just have to keep up the momentum and make sure that we win games week after week."

The scary moments that the Pars boss referred to were ably dealt with by keeper Sean Murdoch and his defence who made several fantastic stops in the closing fifteen minutes.

"We had a lot of people behind the ball, they were hitting a few shots and they could ricochet anywhere. They were piling people forward but credit not just to the keeper but to everyone for working really, really hard as a team and they deserved what they got."
