Dunfermline Athletic

DAFC Proud to be the best in Scotland

Monday, 7th Dec 2015

Scottish Disabled Supporters Association opinions with regard to key access issues.

Dunfermline Athletic is now a community owned football club, and as a result the directors of the football club have to ensure that our football club fulfils its social obligations fully to the community of West Fife.

Ross McArthur, Managing Director highlighted:-

"Dunfermline Athletic Football Club wish to make our stadium accessible to all supporters whether non disabled or disabled. Our football club must be inclusive to everyone in our community.

"East End Park was already one of the best stadia in Scotland for disabled fans to visit. We are truly appreciative of the efforts made by our disabled fans to attend East End Park, despite logistical problems (one wheelchair user, Colin, regularly gets the train from Manchester to Dunfermline to support the Pars.) We want to make their match day experience as enjoyable as possible when they are here.

"However, our club is absolutely delighted to hear today that the latest assessment from the Scottish Disabled Supporters' Association (SDSA), now shows that DAFC has moved well ahead of every other club in Scotland on the facilities provided for disabled supporters (home and away).

"Our club has made great strides in a short period, with meagre resources, and if it was not for the drive of our Disabled Access Group, along with the help and support from the likes of ESL Services, the Purvis Group, AK Moyes, Stephen Vaughan Electrical, ESPC and Tesco Fire Station, we would not have got there.

"On behalf the Board I would like to thank everyone who has contributed, as they deserve to be recognised. It is important we don’t become complacent, and perhaps the rest of Scottish Football might sit up and take notice”
