Allan Johnston claimed that he was delighted with the win over Brechin City that put his side back to the top of Ladbrokes League One, he said:-
"I thought especially in the first half that we were excellent; the work rate, the way we passed the ball. The first goal is probably one of the best goals that you will see. It was a great pass from Jason Talbot to start the move and then Joe (Cardle) put the ball through the eye of a needle and it was obviously a really good finish as well so that set the tone."
This Faissal El Bakhtaoui goal on Saturday was his first after a seven game drought, the manager continued:-
"You can't score in every game but one thing is for sure with Faiss, he works incredibly hard for the team. I thought even in the last few weeks he has come really close and has been really unlucky. You can see the quality that he has got, it was a great finish. He is a massive player for us and it is good to see him scoring again.
"I thought that it was one way traffic in the first half but second half we didn't do quite as well, we let them back in the game a wee bit but overall I think we fully deserved the win.
"We were totally dominant in the first half, the boys were desperate to go and get a result. Sometimes it is hard to keep that tempo up when you have played so well in the first half and as far in front as I thought the boys were.
We took the foot off the gas a wee it but as I said it is difficult when you are winning quite comfortably. They really only had the one chance and then one that Sean (Murdoch) saved one in the second half but I thought we totally dominated the game."
The result gives the team another confidence boost to send them into the crucial league match at Ayr next Saturday:-
"That's us top of the league now, it was massive. You could see by the way they started the game, they knew that if they won the game they would be top of the league. Now we need to take this performance into the Ayr game.
"It will be two good teams, they have shown a lot of consistency as well but we are back on top of the league and that is where we want to stay."
