DAFC is delighted to announce that the long awaited “Into the Valley” book, which has been put together by the hard work of several Pars fans, will be launched at a special night at East End Park on 3rd December, at the same time as we launch the new Norrie kit.
The book now chronicles the ten seasons in the club’s history from 1995/96 to 2004/05, but significantly is written from a fans perspective, following many interviews with former players and managers.
Ross McArthur, Managing Director commented:-
"I know the work that has been undertaken by the Into the Valley team, over the last 18 months to get to this point and I would like to thank them all for their fortitude and patience in staying with it, despite a number of challenges along the way.
"It is also poignant that the book will go on sale, the very same night as the Norrie kit, as the first chapter relates to the season the club won the league after Norrie sadly passed away.”
Stephen Dunkerley, the author, said:-
"The process of writing the “Into the Valley” book has been a huge learning curve. Initially, I had a fairly minor role in the project but with the original author unfortunately unable to continue, and the venture looking like it might grind to a halt completely, I decided to step off the subs’ bench in a bid to try and drive things forward – like a modern day Trevor Smith.
"There are many people to thank who have helped during the process, but I would like to pay special tribute to Stuart Simpson and Matthew Lafferty. They are the two others who have been involved since day one and continued with the task at hand until the end. Without their efforts in fund-raising, researching, interviewing and general organisation, we would not have got to this stage.
"None of us have any previous experience in this department and have had to figure everything out from a standing start. We are delighted to get the book over the finishing line and into publication and hope that the finished product does justice to the efforts of everyone that has contributed along the way.
"Above all though, we hope that all Pars fans enjoy reading it!”
The book is available to pre-order via the club's web shop
