Allan Johnston felt that his team paid for the chances not taken in the first half of the match against Cowdenbeath:-
"You have got to take these chances. We had really good opportunities that probably came back to bite us a bit. I think Cowdenbeath came back into it a wee bit in the second half, they had a couple of half chances but we never did enough in the second half by comparison."
Was the Pars gaffer disappointed that maybe more chances were created in the game?
"Second half especially. First half I thought we created chances and had good opportunities. I don't think Cowdenbeath had a lot of chances either but in the second half we just stopped passing it. We stopped creating it and the final pass just wasn't there today.
"That wee bit of quality that we have shown all season just wasn't there in the second half. The pitch was the same for both teams, it was the same for both teams, it wasn't great when you see a lot of people slipping out there. We were in good areas and as I say you have to have that extra quality to pick somebody out with the final pass that makes a difference."
Is it just a temporary blip?
"Yes. The boys have done well. The positive thing is another clean sheet. There were positives there as well especially in the first half but we know that the second half was nowhere near good enough."
Ayr United have knocked Dunfermline off the top of the league as a consequence of the stalemate at Central Park coupled with Ayr's 3-1 home win over Stranraer. How can the manager lift the team for the next league game at home to Peterhead?
"I don't think they need lifted to be fair. It is a long season, we have only just started into the campaign. Obviously we have started brightly but there is still a long way to go and a lot of points to be won or lost."
