Allan Johnston was pleased that his team grabbed the opportunity to go back to the top of the table last weekend but is wary of Saturday's opponents Forfar since they were part of the reason that was possible. He reflected on the 3-0 win at Stair Park in the televised match that kicked off after all the other fixtures had finished.
"It was a great result knowing going into it that Ayr had drawn earlier in the day and we knew that winning the game would put us top of the table. That was a massive incentive and obviously we went out and started the game really fast. We got the first goal within four minutes to set up a great result. Hopefully we can push on now and create a gap at the top of the table."
One of the highlights of the win at Stranraer was Ben Richards-Everton scoring not just his first goal for Dunfermline but his first ever at senior level.
"It is good to have the goals spread about the team. It was about time Ben got a goal with the height he has got and his presence. He maybe just needs to be a bit more aggressive in the box so hopefully that gives him a bit of confidence now and he can go on and score a right few goals between now and the end of the season."
Forfar Athletic are no strangers to Dunfermline having two away wins already over them in the Petrofac Training Cup and in League One.
"They have a lot of good players, we saw that last week against Ayr, they started really fast and were 2-0 up. They will be disappointed to let Ayr back into the game but it just shows you how dangerous they are. They are always well organised, always up there challenging at the top of the league. It will be a tough test."
The manager paid tribute to the fans who made the journey to Stranraer despite the game being shown live on BBC Alba and praised the unwavering support no matter home or away:-
"They have got behind the team in every game this season no matter whether home or away. I am sure that we will get a good crowd here and hopefully we will put on a good performance and get the result that we will be looking for to make sure that we stay top of the table."
On the injury front the manager was pleased to report things as"getting better". Lewis Martin has had another week's training and recovery after doing well at Stranraer. Ryan Williamson, Callum Fordyce and Josh Falkingham remain out of contention due to injury.
"Josh has a slight fracture in his back but we are hoping that he will be back within the next couple of weeks. That happened in the Albion Rovers game, it was just a collision - it is not a major fracture, just a small one but it will take its time to heal."
Callum and Ryan are both progressing with AJ predicting Callum to be out for longer.
"He is a bit behind but he will get there. Ryan is progressing a bit quicker and he is now allowed to do some training. He is here when we come in first thing in the morning and when we are leaving he is still working. It is incredible. The two of them have a fantastic attitude and that will stand them in good stead for the journey that they have ahead of them."
