10/10/15: AJ:- "It was a chance to get into a semi final, a massive opportunity but we let ourselves down.

Allan Johnston was very unhappy to exit the Petrofac Training Cup to St Mirren in a match where they seemed to fail to step up to the standards required to compete with a Championship team. He said it was hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong:-

"Obviously defensively we cannot afford to lose the goals that we lost today. Overall when you look at the team I don't think anyone played well. You get the odd occasion when it is one or two who don't play well but the majority never played well.

"It was a bad performance; we have been in a good vein of form maybe taking things for granted, maybe not working as hard as what we have been and we have to make sure that we get back to that. There has to be a reaction next week."

Chances were few for Dunfermline and Allan was asked if things could have been so much different had Joe Cardle turned in Shaun Rooney's cross in the 28th minute.

"I don't think we deserved that to be fair. We weren't good enough, we have set higher standards than that since the start of the season so everybody has to take responsibility; myself, the players everybody.

"We had a great following again and we let them down. We are all devastated, there is a long season to go and we just have to make sure that we correct that and try and get up. That is the main game."

AJ agreed that it is more important to turn up and win the three league points next Saturday at Stranraer:-

"Every game is important, you want to win every game - it was a chance to get into a semi final, a massive opportunity but we let ourselves down. We are better than that, set higher standards than that. We play better than that and we should have come here and expected to win.

"We have a small squad so it will be difficult to make changes for next week, we will see how everybody reacts in training. Faiss came off feeling his hamstring a bit. He is a big player for us this year but that is an opportunity for somebody else."
