Preview St Mirren
Saturday, 10th Oct 2015Petrofac Training Cup Quarter Final: St Mirren Park, Saturday 10th October 2015, kick off 3.00pm
Dunfermline's next game is away to St Mirren in the Quarter Final of the Petrofac Training Cup. The last time the teams met was also in Paisley when St Mirren won 2-1 in the second Round of the SPFL League Cup. Lewis Spence had shot the Pars into a ninth minute lead before a Ross Caldwell double in 50th and 80th minutes. That was the Fifers third time there since the Paisley side moved from Love Street to Greenhill Road and the SPL matches there in 2011-2012 ended in a 2-1 win for the hosts and a 4-4 draw.
In the 2-1 game, first half goals from Kenny McLean and Nigel Hasselbaink gave St Mirren the advantage and although Joe Cardle nicked one back in 62 minutes, Danny Lennon's side held out to take all three points.
In the remarkable eight goal thriller in April 2012 the Pars came back twice from two goals down. Scorers that day were Jordan MacMillan, David Graham, Liam Buchanan and Andy Kirk.
Record win away to Saints is 5-0 when Bert Paton (2), Hugh Robertson, Hugh Maxwell and Jim Fleming did the damage in season 66/67. The Buddies have won by four goals a few times; 6-2 being the biggest result in February 1959 and they even scored one of the Pars two.
