Captaincy is big thing for Geggs

Stand in skipper admits to knowing little about next opponents

Andy Geggan feels that every team that comes to East End Park raises their game:-

"Obviously we are the scalp in the league. It is crucial to get that first goal and if you don't get it your back is against the wall and we have to grind it out for the full game.

"In the first few games we were just going out straight away and scoring goals. In the last couple of home games it just showed you that if it doesn't happen for us. We should not get frustrated when we lose a goal."

Andy discussed who he knew in the Albion Rovers team and how frustrating it is to be the best attacking team in the league but not top.

"I know Andy Barrowman, John Gemmill and Michael Dunlop but I have not seen Albion Rovers play so I don't know how they play to be honest. I am sure that we will start winning games again."

Andy has re-inherited the captain's armband in the wake of Callum Fordyce's leg break. He said that he was proud to lead the team:-

"It is a big thing to be a captain of a club, it is good to see the boys give you that bit of respect when you have got it. It was a blow to lose Callum Fordyce and Ryan Williamson; the two of them and the whole team were flying so losing them was a set back. Hopefully they can get back as soon as possible. We are still a very good team."

The 28 year old stand in skipper feels that the team is coming together well and has an understanding of each other's games:-

"In training you get to know the players better. It makes it that wee bit easier. We are a good bunch of players who are starting to read each other's games. The gaffer has done well with the players that he has brought in - Big Ben (Richards-Everton) and Jason Talbot. He has done well in picking his players.

"With the players that we have got, we have to be up there challenging. As a full time club, second is not good enough. We just have to finish first!"
