- - Listen to these Allan Johnston comments
"I am really disappointed but overall we had by far the most amount of chances. We just never took them and we have to be more clinical. We have to do better for the first goal. I would have to see the second goal again but Sean is saying that it was a bit of a foul on him.
"In the second half I think Ayr could not get in our half. It is frustrating and when you see the tackle on Callum (Fordyce) as well it was a poor challenge that didn't get a booking, it is incredible when you see the speed of the uncontrolled challenge."
Referee Kevin Graham did dish out five yellow cards to Ayr players but took no action at the incident that caused the injury to the Pars captain's left leg. AJ continued:-
"Losing Callum is going to be a massive loss for us this year. Fingers crossed he makes a speedy recovery. We don't know the extent of the injury but so far it is not looking good."
Ayr created problems for Dunfermline right from the kick off and the Pars manager had anticipated that :-
"We always knew that it was going to be s tough game. I don't think there were a lot of bad tackles going in to be fair. It was more a clumsy challenge, the boy went in with a lot of pace and it was a bit uncontrolled. Usually that is a sending off for me."
Allan commented on Alan Forrest's 23rd minute goal:-
"Ayr's first goal came from a quick breakaway. It was a good finish from him but if you look at the amount of chances we had, we have got to be more clinical - we could easily have scored four or five in that game."
The new latest signings were called off the bench during the match. Shaun Rooney took the place of the injured Callum Fordyce and 13 minutes into the second half Mickaël Antoine-Curier came on for Michael Moffat.
"I thought they did well. Obviously we are disappointed not to score but if we keep playing the way we are playing and creating the amount of chances we are we will win more than we lose. It is still early in the season, we are just a point off the top and there is a long way to go."
The manager picked out the positives from the defeat:-
"The amount of chances we created, their keeper had a wonder second half judging by the amount of saves he made - you are not going to do that every week. The boys did really well, I am disappointed with the result but they have got to learn from it. We cannot afford to get caught on the counter the way we did for the first goal. I would need to look at the second goal again but the biggest disappointment is the injury to Callum Fordyce because he has been excellent for us this year."
The referee is not allowed to look at the video of the game and tell us his comments on that:-
"It is a crazy rule when you are only looking for an explanation. It is a hard job but we are only looking for an understanding. The way he has landed hasn't helped but it doesn't look good.he is away for x-Rays."
