Preview Ayr United
Saturday, 12th Sep 2015"Previous records count for nothing" in Dunfermline's next match at home against Ian McCall's Ayr United.
The Ayrshire side have had an 11 day break since their last match due to the Air Show that was being held at Prestwick last weekend. The Pars win at Forfar last Saturday took them back to the top of League One and games cannot come quickly enough for Allan Johnston and his players.
The Pars manager watched Ayr play last week against Stenhousemuir and his assistant Sandy Clark watched them recently against Rangers. Their conclusion was that Ayr are a top team, well organised with a lot of quality in their team so this 90th league meeting should be a good contest.
The record book reveals that in the league the Pars have won 41 to Ayr's 26, 22 have been drawn. Ayr's recent record against Dunfermline is not good but Allan Johnston dismisses that saying "previous records count for nothing"
The Pars have lost only two of the last 26 league meetings. Ayr United have only won 5 of the last 46 games between the sides in all competitions stretching back to 1983.

In their last match Jordan Preston scored his first goals of the season as Ayr breezed to a win over Stenhousemuir in League One. The player on loan from Blackburn pounced on a defensive error to slot home after three minutes, but Stenny drew level 13 minutes later when Euan Murray headed in Alan Cook's cross. Craig Moore converted Nicky Devlin's pass to put Ayr ahead then Jamie Barclay put through his own net. Preston's second and Ross Caldwell's late strike made it five before Liam McCroary's headed consolation goal for the Warriors.
