DAFC Board Appeal to Supporters
Friday, 28th Aug 2015The Board, along with every other DAFC supporter, were absolutely delighted with the win and performance on Tuesday evening against Dundee.
After us all facing a difficult couple of years, it was perhaps understandable that we should be bursting with emotion and elation near the end of the game.
However, under no circumstances can supporters leave the stand, and run on to either the playing surface or track side, as was the case on Tuesday. No matter what the situation, this behaviour is not acceptable. Police Scotland made two arrests at the match and are currently reviewing CCTV footage. This matter may well have serious repercussions for our club, as it was included in the referee’s report and an SPFL observer was watching the game from the stand.
The club may be fined as a consequence. In addition, our club and Safety Officers have worked closely with our new Police Commander and Police Scotland over the last few months, to try and manage the risk at our home matches, without a Police presence. Unfortunately, Tuesday night’s incident undermines our plans and relationship.
The Board would like to make an urgent appeal, admittedly to the minority of supporters involved, to refrain from entering the field of play or track side in future, as any repeat of this behaviour will have serious consequences both for themselves and our club.
