Dunfermline Athletic

Manager on Thursday

Thursday, 20th Aug 2015

20/08/15: "When the team is scoring so well and scoring so many goals it has been difficult for other to get in.

"It is going to be a tough game since they have started the season really well. As you saw against Falkirk on Tuesday night, they are a team that is capable of scoring a lot of goals.

"Obviously McAllister is a massive player for them but as I have said before we have to concentrate and focus on our own game. He is a player who could obviously have played at a higher level throughout his career. He has had the chance a few times to move on to different clubs but he has chosen to stay there. I think he has a good job and it is a good contract that he is on there as well.

"We have started the season fantastic as well, we have a lot of quality players and good competition for places. So we will go into that game full of confidence."

The two most in form strikers in Scottish football, Faissal El Bakhtaoui and Rory McAllister, both with nine goals will be on opposing sides on Saturday but the Dunfermline manager reminded everyone that it is not just about individuals:-

"It is about the team and as a team we have played well. The results have been fantastic and we just have to keep achieving the standards and the results will happen. We have scored goals from all over the park - Ryan Wallace, Michael Moffat and Faiss - the three strikers have all contributed and scored a lot of goals."

The manager commented on losing Ryan Williamson owe to a leg break late in the Petrofac Training a Cup tie at Forfar on Tuesday night:-

"He has been fantastic this year, he has a great attitude for such a really young player and he has a big future ahead of him. We just have got to make sure that we look after him and support him and make sure that we get him back even bigger, stronger and better than he is now."

The injury is a double fracture but the Pars gaffer feels that these days such injuries will get fixed and wasn't willing to speculate on the time period that Ryan Williamson will be out:-

"He has good mentality and as a club we need to rally round him and support him. The players are all desperate for him to do well.

"I don't think the tackle was timed very well and Ryan was maybe just too quick for him. It did look a poor challenge."

The manager observed that it had been hard for the players on the sidelines to get into the team. The first five games were won with the same starting eleven but due to Ryan's injury there will definitely a change this week.

"When the team is scoring so well and scoring so many goals it has been difficult for other to get in. This gives somebody else an opportunity to come in. It does emphasise the fact that we need to bring in a couple more, especially defenders. We will try and do that over the next few days. There are a few people that we are looking at."
