Social Success for DAFC

Friday, 21st Aug 2015

DAFC are proving to be one of the fastest growing social media presences within Scottish football.

Our Facebook page hit 16,000 likes over the weekend of 15 August 2015 – with our Twitter nearing the 10,000 followers mark.

One Facebook post alone after the recent 7-1 victory over Cowdenbeath hit over 57,000 people and the page itself managed a total of 150,000 views over the course of that week (Mon 17 – Friday 21 August). The Club Twitter account has also seen over 1.08 million hits during the last 28 day period.

Prior to the Pars United takeover in October 2013, the club had no real presence at all on social media, but can now boast popular and engaging accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube and have more recently launched Snapchat.

Mikey Mlotkiewicz, who actively runs the club’s social media accounts said:

“Snapchat is just in its infancy for us; Leicester City, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Watford and Birmingham City amongst others have recently launched their presence on it, so it’s a platform which is proving very popular with fans and clubs alike. It allows us to show fans further behind-the-scenes content and feel even more involved in their club.

"Social media was one of the key strategy points in our new communication plan with supporters when the takeover initially happened. It was vital that we used these platforms to listen to fans and, most importantly, engage with them. It has now grown beyond our wildest expectations and with the ideas we have for the future and with the club progressing on the park, it will only continue to do so.”

Ross McArthur, Managing Director of DAFC, said:

“What we have achieved has been nothing short of remarkable; we are hitting bigger targets than some Scottish Premiership clubs. There is no doubt the quality of our social media content, graphic design and photography has boosted the feel good factor around the club. We have seen increased season ticket sales, merchandise sales, hospitality and the relationship and communication between players, club, local businesses and supporters has improved considerably. It’s an exciting time to be a Pars fan.”
