Manager ahead of Petrofac tie
Sunday, 16th Aug 2015"We are focussed on every game and try and win every game no matter what competition it is in."
- - Listen to Allan Johnston pre match comments
Allan Johnston is looking forward to meeting Forfar Athletic in the Petrofac Training Cup on Tuesday and dismissed any suggestion of weakened teams being selected for this cup:-
"It is a game that we definitely want to win. I have won this competition before with Queen of the South and it is important that we keep the momentum going by winning games and keep scoring goals."
The Queen of the South cup run in 2012 included a famous win over Rangers at Ibrox, AJ continued:-
"That gave the players a massive lift but we just have to make sure that we are focussed on every game and try and win every game no matter what competition it is in."
Forfar has not been the most successful of away ground for the Pars of late with the home side clearly benefiting by knowing their artificial pitch well and knowing just how much weight to put on passes.
"I have no complaint about the pitch. It is a good surface and I have been there with Queen of the South before. It encourages you to play and pass the ball. It should make for a good game.
"Dick Campbell will have them really well organised; he will be desperate to beat us because of his relationship with the club. Forfar have done well over the last couple of years, they have good players and I like Swankie and Templeman who can always score goals. It is a really experienced team who know how to defend and hit you on the counterattack.
"It is a hard place to go, not many teams go there and win. I am sure that we will take a big following and it is one that we are looking forward to."
After fielding the same eleven for the first four matches of the competitive season, can the Pars manager change a winning team?
"It is difficult. It gives you major problems when everybody that is playing is doing well, even the subs coming off the bench are doing well and scoring goals. As a manager you cannot complain about that."
