Allan Johnston was yet again a very happy manager when he gave his post match thoughts to the media:-
"Some of the football there was fantastic. In the last half hour they were down to ten and sometimes it can be difficult against ten men but the boys kept the momentum up and you could see how much they wanted to win the game and score a lot of goals."
After four competitive games the Pars have scored 22 goals but there could be some disappointment at not yet achieving a clean sheet. Allan continued:-
"Sean Murdoch did well. Obviously he saved the penalty in the first half and the Cowdenbeath goal was a wonder strike. If you hit ten of them you would be lucky if one goes in. It was a great strike but I cannot praise the players enough for the way they played today and obviously for the goals they scored and the chances they created.
"We got the goal early and the pace and quality that we have in the team is gelling together and we are getting results. Everybody is pushing for places and hopefully that will drive us on this season. Everybody knows they have to be on it 100% or they are not going to play."
Asked if he could recall such a resounding scoreline as a manager, Allan Johnston thought that seven was his best success.
"It is maybe the first seven but it is pleasing in as much as it was a really good team performance. We have a massive couple of weeks ahead of us with the cup games (v Forfar and v Dundee) so it is going to take its toll on the squad but hopefully we can freshen things up. You could see that with the subs coming on."
It would appear that Dunfermline are quite comfortable with the tag of bookies favourite:-
"That was probably the same last year but it is all about getting results. We just have to take it one game at a time and make sure that the players are 100% focussed.
"It is going to be a really difficult game on Tuesday night, I think Forfar have not lost a goal yet. They won 4-0 today and they are a really well organised team. They don't lose a lot of goals and they will be up there challenging us at the end of the season, so we know how hard a task it is going to be on Tuesday. We are not taking it lightly.
"The boys are buzzing, they are all young lads and they want to do well in their careers. Obviously they are buying into everything that we are doing, they are all focussed."
The manager was delighted to see 4000 fans inside East End Park for the local derby and he hopes that attendances will continue to grow:-
"It is up to us to try and entertain them, get goals and you can see that we are an attacking team, that is the way we play. We are not always going to score as many goals but it won't be for the lack of trying."
