Keeper's eye view as City hit for six

Monday, 10th Aug 2015

"Brechin are a good experienced team but they couldn't live with us."

Goalkeeper Sean Murdoch had a relatively busy match even when you consider the 6-1 scoreline, the Pars best away result since March 1979. Commenting on the result on Saturday at Brechin Sean said:-

"I hate losing goals, every goalkeeper hate losing goals. To lose a goal the way we did so late in the game was disappointing but maybe they were worthy of a goal. They created chances and put us under pressure but all in all six goals and sometimes it is great just to sit back and watch."

The 29 year old keeper, now in his second spell with Dunfermline Athletic, was not out of the match as much as the scoreline suggests and he made good saves in both halves. Coming back out for the second half at 4-0 up it was noticeable that the Fifers eased their foot off until their substitutes came on with something to prove. Before Ryan Wallace made it 5-0 Sean had made a tremendous save from City captain Craig Molloy and kept out the opposition several times as they threatened his goal.

"I had three or four saves which I was happy with and the goal was a sucker punch really but that doesn't take the icing off the performance. The performance was outstanding and to be honest every time we went forward, we looked like scoring.

"Brechin are a good experienced team but they couldn't live with us. We have just got to keep that momentum going, keep the team spirit and keep attacking teams like that. If we do that we will certainly have a good season."
