Allan Johnston was naturally delighted with his team's result at Brechin but still had time to be less than 100% happy with his day in Angus:-
"To be honest I don't think we actually hit the heights of last week. I don't think we passed the ball as good, maybe the surface was a wee bit sticky but when you look back, some of the goals were a bit special. I think we had a bit too much quality for them."
Responding to the comment that his team were in control for the entire match, the victorious Pars manager said:-
"It has been like that for the majority of games already this year. It is just maintaining these standards. The boys are desperate to do well this year, they can see the big following that we had as well, it is fantastic and hopefully we can put performances on like that and get as many goals as possible for the fans."
The six goals came from five different players with both Ryan Wallace and Josh Falkingham coming off the bench to get themselves on the scoresheet. He continued:-
"It showed great attitude. Josh and Ryan came on - they are fantastic players - and that just shows you the competition we have got. Probably the only disappointment was losing the goal at the end because we are wanting clean sheets as well. Maybe that is pushing it!"
Another two goals from Faissal El Bakhtaoui, that's six in three matches for the French Moroccan pleased the manager:-
"He is on fire. He missed a couple of days training last week and we didn't want to take any chances so we took him off just before the end to protect him."
Faissal is going to be an important player and can Pars fans expect to see more of what has caused 15 goals in the first three competitive matches of the season.
"Sometimes we are going to have to grind out results but there were a lot of pleasing performances there. I still think we can do better and improve."
Regardless such a resounding victory against a side that Dunfermline failed to beat last season is a very satisfying first day result:-
"They are a difficult team to play against, you can see that they get the ball forward quickly. They had two strikers upfront who were a handful - it is difficult to deal with that. For the majority of the game we did well and it was pleasing to score as many goals" said Johnston who summarised:-
"It is about maintaining standards and improving week on week. I think we have the players capable of doing that, we just have to make sure that no slackness creeps in."
