Hats off to Pars Fans
Tuesday, 28th Jul 2015With retro football fashion back in demand on the terraces, Pars fans can now sport one of the club's most iconic pieces of merchandise.
The black, white and red bucket hat became a cult accessory for supporters during the 80s and 90s and is synonymous with the Leishman Aces and Paton's Premier Pars eras.
The hat made a previous comeback last year, thanks to the backing of Pars fans Matt Kilgour and Mikey Mlotkiewicz, who were orginally behind the idea to bring back the bucket hat. Mikey explained: “Retro is fashionable at the moment on the terraces, so me and my mates looked at what we could come up with, which the fans would happily buy, plus it allowed us to bring in additional funds to help run the Elizabethan Pars Supporters Club."
"We tried to stay as authentic as possible to the original hats of the 80s and 90s. The hats were popular in the late 80s in the Leishman era and also in the mid 90s when Bert Paton and Dick Campbell were in charge."
The good news for all Pars fans is that the hats are once again available from the Pars United DASC Supporters Shop at East End Park, and based on advance orders will not hang around for long!
Marvyn Stewart explained “I have received many request from the fans to re-stock the bucket hats, so I am delighted to recently receive the order but I would ask any Pars fan who wants one to get in quick! As ever, all money raised will go straight to he club”
Pars Players, Joe Cardle, David Hutton, Ben Richards-Everton, David Hopkirk and Faissal El-Bakhtaoui recently modelled the new bucket hats at East End Park.
