Fans favourite contenders
Monday, 27th Jul 2015Faissal El Bakhtaoui on target against Hibs and then twice against Arbroath
Faissal El Bakhtaoui was the club's top goalscorer last season and with a double in the opening competitive match he is in line to maintain the title of fans' favourite but the 22 year old joked that maybe that title is now Joe Cardle's. The competition should be healthy with Faiss saying:-
"Joe Cardle is a very good player and he will provide good balls in but Joe is the first I think. Maybe I am the second.
"I was happy to score two goals, it was a good game for me and for the team as well. We need to keep it going like that and play well every game this season.
"My first goal was a good finish and the second was a header - I only scored one with my head last season."
Faiss claimed that the striking experience of the new manager and new assistant had helped his development. Likewise Allan Johnston praised his striker in his post match comments and Faiss hopes to win plenty more praise this season:-
"I feel stronger this season and felt good at Arbroath, I hope to score more goals this season. Last season I scored seven in the league games and two in cups, nine in total but I want to score more this season. This is a big club, we need to go up and this is a big year for Dunfermline."
