Hutton's goal is winning start
Monday, 13th Jul 2015New Pars keeper looking forward to striking up Big Ben understanding. "He can deal with everything that is up in the air and I will make the saves."
David Hutton is no stranger to Pars fans since he has played Dunfermline ten times in the last two seasons, played against them as well when at Clyde and Queen of the South and has now played three pre season friendlies as a trialist. He told this website that he was delighted to be signed on a one season deal and is now just desperate to play:-
"I can't wait for the season to start now. Obviously we have friendlies against Queens Park and Hibs before we are away to Arbroath in the cup."
"We will be looking to get off to a winning start. There is a lot of buzz and confidence about the team and if you start winning games confidence comes. We are happy with the clean sheets but at the other end goals will come. I played with Michael Moffat at Ayr and when he starts scoring he doesn't stop. Ryan Wallace is deadly as well so it looks good."
Moffat and Hutton had no joy when they played for Ayr against the Pars, David lamented:-
"We never played well against Dunfermline, it is just one of those things. Sometimes in football you come up against a team that you just can't beat. If you can't beat them just go with it! The team I am with now is really strong so I am really looking forward to the season because it looks promising. I am really excited."
Another of David's team mates was Allan Johnston, they played together at Queen of the South and he recalled:-
"He was a great player, an unbelievable player but he knows me inside out as well. That was a factor that he knew me and having nothing to doubt in me."
The new Pars keeper described himself as a "midget" when it was noted that he wasn't the tallest keeper around:-
"I am a wee goalie but it is not all about height - it is about your spring and timing, shot stopping. I have been around the block and people say that I am a bit mad, that gets me places. I don't think height makes a difference. I cannot do what six foot two goalies do but I can get down quicker."
David claimed that Andy Goram had the greatest affect on his development as a keeper:-
"He was my coach at Clyde, I supported Rangers as a boy and obviously growing up idolised him. Now he is like one of the family, he is the godfather to my daughter and I speak to him everyday. He is a good influence and I have always looked up to him."
The Pars defence has been really solid and David praised them for not conceding a goal in the three games that he has played behind them:-
"It is promising and I would just like to keep that going to make it a good habit. They are looking solid, strong and fit. Big Ben can deal with everything that is up in the air and I will make the saves. I have really enjoyed it, the four of them have started to know me now and what I do."
After two seasons without missing a game at Ayr United, David was released and he will relish the four matches against his old club this season starting on 12th September. He is aware though that his position will be challenged when Allan Johnston brings in another keeper:-
"I would rather that someone comes in to keep me on my toes. Competition will keep me going. If I make mistakes then I will have somebody breathing down my neck. That is what you need at any club."
Currently the only other keeper at training is seventeen year old Cammy Gill (pictured above) but David was full of praise for the former Gracemount High School pupil:-
"He is a good young really promising goalkeeper. A young boy with a lot to learn but he is coming on really well. He has got good hands and a great future ahead of him."
