Pars Day in the Park
Sunday, 5th Jul 2015The Dunfermline Athletic Open Day and Strip Launch was held on Sunday in the Glen Pavilion.
It was a great afternoon, very well attended and a wonderful portrayal of everything good that is happening around the club.
Manager Allan Johnston described his first Pars Open Day:-
"It was a really good event. You can see by the amount of fans who turned up that there is a lot of positivity at the club. Hopefully we can get the results on the pitch that count as well.
"I was impressed by the amount of people working to help the club; working behind the scenes doing their bit for the club. That is much appreciated and it just shows how much it means to everyone.
"There have been a few hard years for the club but sometimes you have to experience the lows to appreciate the highs as well."
Managing Director Ross McArthur said:-
"It was fantastic to see the amount of people who turned out to see the new kit. It profiles everything that is good about the club. We have shifted a tremendous amount of kit already so it is a great start to the season. The main thing is to get everybody together, supporters and the team.
"Last season was disappointing but with the changes and the new players we hope that this is going to be a good season for the club."
Assistant Manager Sandy Clark felt that the huge turn out at the Open Day summed up the club for him:-
"The fan base is incredible, there was a really good feeling about during the afternoon. I know it was full of kids but there are a lot of genuine fans who have supported the club for a long time. They so want the club and the team to do well. If we can work together and get that atmosphere that was here this afternoon in the changing room and East End Park when we play on a Saturday then things will go well."
Stalls at the Open Day included:- The Pars Foundation, 1885 Business Club, Dunfermline Athletic Supporters Club, DAFC Heritage Trust, DAFC Schools Engagement Programme, Pars Supporters Trust, Centenary Club Lifeline, The Young Pars, DAFC Disabled Access Group, Royal Navy Reserves, The Kilt Company, ESPC. Striker Michael Moffat enjoyed his second Pars Open Day:-
"It is great to interact with all the fans, sign autographs and get pictures. There had been a really good turnout hopefully that is a sign of the season to come. Going by today, they are all still behind us and season tickets are up as well.
"A fresh start is maybe what everybody was needing and there is a new buzz about the place and hopefully we can repay them by winning the league."
