DAFC appoint new First Team Manager
Friday, 8th May 2015"We hope that today’s announcement will provide a welcome boost to our loyal supporters and allow everyone at East End Park to look forward with renewed optimism."
The Board of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Allan Johnston as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
Allan has signed an initial one year contract, with an extension option.
Allan has already proved that he is a young, forward thinking manager, who has already achieved success at both Kilmarnock and Queen of the South.
As previously intimated the Board had set strict criteria in terms of the exact qualities and experience we were looking for, and Allan fitted the bill in every respect.
Allan has 25 years’ experience in the game as a full time player, coach and full time manager. As a player he represented his country on 18 occasions and has experience of playing at the highest level in Scotland, England and abroad.
We received over 75 excellent applicants for the vacancy, but it was evident that Allan was the outstanding candidate. Even before interviewing Allan, the Board undertook extensive research by speaking to many respected people within Scottish Football and it was clear that he was very well regarded.
From our discussions, at an early stage our ambitions closely met Allan’s and it is obvious that he has a steely determination to succeed at Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.
We hope that today’s announcement will provide a welcome boost to our loyal supporters, after the difficulties we have faced this season, and allow everyone at East End Park to look forward with renewed optimism.
