Andy Barrowman post Falkirk
Wednesday, 22nd Apr 2015Barra's opinion that the Pars win was well deserved was confirmed by Peter Houston the Falkirk Manager who was watching from Stands.
The U20s coach told the website:-
“From start to finish, every one of them were excellent, they were different class. Off the ball, their defending, their closing down, it was great. On the ball, they passed it, mixed up their game, they were superb. They had a wee spell, as you are never going to dominate the game for 90 minutes, but we stayed strong, defended well, Jamie made a great save when called upon and we pushed on and got the second goal. It was a fully deserved win.
"The forwards and midfielders tend to get the credit but the defence was good – every single one of them played very well. Even the subs that came on were good, you couldn’t really pick anyone out who was extra special, it was an all round great team performance. I’m delighted because we have had good performances recently but maybe not got the results but tonight we did and we deserved it.
"Thomas did score the first goal, he is adamant that he did – even if he doesn’t touch it he would claim it – that’s the way he is! His movement is different class, he’s always looking for that ball in behind and he’s a real poacher, a goalscorer and has done himself no harm in terms of the first team picture. He always gets goals, gets chances, and maybe could have had another couple tonight."
When asked about Paul George –
"This is the best that he has played for us, whether it be first team or under 20’s. He was on the money in everything tonight and you could see his ability. His ability was never in question but you forget he is young as well. He’s maybe not played enough first team games and its different playing U20 football which is different and takes a bit of getting used to. Tonight was certainly his best performance and it’s just a shame that we have not seen more of it.
"Jamie Wilson had an excellent save tonight, I don’t know how he got it as I was expecting a goal, but he did great. As goalkeepers you need to concentrate and make sure when that chance comes that you get it. I spoke to him at half time about his starting position with the ball over the top as they were quite pacy up front and it was giving us a bit of trouble. I spoke to him about that and he did that two or three times in the second half, so that’s good that he is learning and picking things up that you say to him, it’s a good sign."
