John Potter was convinced that the sending off of Ross Millen after just 12 minutes changed the game.

"I don't really know what happened but somebody pushed Ross and he has reacted. You can't do that and he was sent off. The game changes but we shouldn't lose goals the way we did. You have to try and stay in the game as long as you can. We didn't do that, we lost two goals and from then it was an uphill battle.

"I was really happy with the way we started but the game changes with the sending off. When down to ten men we tried to change it. There wasn't really much in the game but the goals quickly changed it.

"They came from mistakes from us. We still had enough bodies back to defend. Obviously we were playing with ten men but we had three or four men back with defensive players around to defend but we didn't do that.

"We spoke about how the two goals came, we spoke about it yesterday and guys did not do their jobs. Yes we were down to ten men but they weren't tired at that point, they were still fresh and we shouldn't be losing goals like that."

The half time team talk was short given the Dunfermline team was back out after eight minutes, Potts gave an insight to that point:-

"I didn't say too much, I told them what I was looking for and what can happen in a game of football. They had to go out and show a lot more than they did. Down to ten men doesn't matter, they were keeping three or four players back so we had enough players defensively to switch on.

"We came strong at the end of the game but the damage had already been done. That is the hard part to take."

Another game without hitting the net and the manager agreed that has been the team's problem for a long time:-

"Earlier on this season we were defending really well but not scoring. Of late we have been up and down defensively but we have been getting in good areas and not creating great chances. Even when we do we are not putting them away and not showing that real aggression to put the ball in the net.

"We have tried everything. I have given everyone an opportunity and that is the disappointing thing that nobody has really grabbed that by the neck and started scoring a lot of goals."

Disappointment stretches now from the players and management to the fans. The gaffer expanded:-

"We are fans and as disappointed as anyone. I am the manager of the club and I would never ever fault their effort or their work rate. They do work hard, the simple fact is that some of them are just not good enough.

"That is the fact from where we are in this league. We should know how to play this league; we have been in it a couple of years now but we have not. There are people who have let us down on certain occasions and as a group we all need to do so much better.

"The fans have every right to be disappointed, we are but we have two games to go and we need to make changes to show that there is something to look forward to next year. The squad will need big changes to win the league next year, that is what we have to aim for and that is what we will work towards."

Asked if we can expect to see signs of that in next Saturday's home game against Forfar Athletic, John replied:-

"Yes of course. There are players in contract, guys out of contract. We will have a look at the younger kids who are doing well and see if they are ready for next year. Things will change and it is an opportunity to do it."
