It is always fantastic to hear of the extent our supporters go to on a Saturday, to get along to East End Park through thick and thin.
We were reminded again on Saturday of the dedication shown by Colin Johnston, who regularly travels to see his beloved Pars from Manchester, via public transport despite being in a wheelchair.
Ross McArthur, Managing Director, DAFC takes up the story “I contacted Colin a few weeks ago to ask if he would like to contribute towards a video we were filming on Saturday. Colin was delighted to participate and assured me he would have his alarm set, and transport booked so that he would arrive on time at 12 noon!
"In return, our club was able to lay on a surprise for Colin as we could not have him hanging around for a couple of hours until kick off. He was treated to hospitality and able to watch the match from a pitch side box.
"Colin told me that he caught the train from Manchester at 6.15am and did not get home until 10.30pm, which is a very long day. I would also like to thank Lorna Morton who kindly took it upon herself to meet Colin when he arrived in Dunfermline and helped him along to the stadium, which was a lovely gesture. We have our challenges at the club at present, but it is really humbling to see what our proud club means to so many people which help to raise everyone’s spirits.”
Speaking of his exciting day, Colin said:-
“I had a fantastic day on Saturday and did not expect to be treated to hospitality, never mind being asked to pick the man of the match. To top it off with 3 points was extra special. I would like to thank everyone at the club for making it a great day, and it is great to see the community spirit we now have within the club.“
