Disappointment after getting ahead
Monday, 6th Apr 2015Michael Moffat felt that the draw on Saturday really felt like a defeat.
Dunfermline's goalscorer on Saturday discussed the result and despite getting back on the scoresheet, he was pretty down when he talked to this websiteafter the game:-
"Single points are not good enough for us, we need to win games. We knew that three points were important to get us back into it, one is not enough but we will keep going until it is mathematically impossible.
"We will need to pick ourselves up, there are four games left so we must try and finish strongly and hopefully we can pick up enough points to catch the teams above us.
"After last week's defeat we needed a bit of a reaction and we definitely gave that. We had talked about it all week that it wasn't good enough last week. We shouldn't be losing 4-0 to anybody, especially at home.
"We knew that we had to go to Peterhead and show a bit of fight. We knew that we would need to stand up to it. First half we certainly played well enough and got ahead.
"For me it was good to get back playing again and I was delighted with the goal. We played quite well in the first half but in the second half we just couldn't get going."
The longer balls that Dunfermline played in the first half suited the Pars striker's game he claimed:-
"I like playing on the shoulder of the last man and getting in behind teams. It worked alright in the first half but second half we were camped into our own half. They put us under a lot of pressure and we just really couldn't get out. They came back into it and probably deserved the point in the end. We are disappointed having taken the lead that we didn't see it through.
"Ryan Scully didn't have too many saves to make but we were giving away too many cheap free kicks and corners. Ultimately it cost us.
"We are disappointed that were are seven points adrift from Brechin. It is a bit gap but there are twelve points left achievable. We just need to go and take the twelve points and hopefully that is enough.
"We have still to play Brechin, there are still three or four teams playing for that fourth place and there is a lot of football to be played although we would far rather be in their position than ours. We will keep going until the very end and see if that is good enough."
