Geggan's seven serious steps

Monday, 16th Mar 2015

Andy Geggan accepts that players at Dunfermline fully understand that it is now important to win every game.

Discussing Saturday's poor result against Stirling Albion, Andy said:-

"We just weren't ourselves in the first half, we weren't up to scratch and I cannot say that we were really any better in the second half.

"We went a goal down and Barrowman holds his hands up to that saying that it was his man but it was a cheap goal to lose. We got back into it and thought that we could have sneaked it but obviously it wasn't our day."

The Pars captain for the day agreed that it should not take going a goal down to spur the team into urgency.

"We should know ourselves that we need to win every game. As soon as we got the goal it did lift us a wee touch but we just kept on kicking it long. I don't know why because they were all giants at the back."

The equaliser came just four minutes after Stirling had taken the lead and it was another characteristic Andy Geggan goal, arriving at speed on the end of an Alex Whittle cross to head past keeper Callum Reidford. However the inability to find a winner meant that Dunfermline slipped to seventh, their lowest league position since the second match of the season. They are now six points behind Brechin City who are currently in the third of the play off places. Andy stressed the requirements:-

"We need to win every game now, and pick it up big time and start winning. This club should never be in this league, it is embarrassing that we are in this league.

"We will take it on into next week. The boys are brilliant in training and you can see that. We will kick on from here and we will definitely not have our heads down next week.

"Six points off fourth place, it is still possible. We can still do it with seven games to go."
