05/03/15: John Potter - 'We will not settle for a point in any game.

The Pars gaffer has promised that his team will go out and have a go while keeping it tight at the back.

"We were disappointed on Monday morning. The performance wasn't good enough and the result wasn't good enough. There were obviously reasons behind the result as well; we had to pick ourselves up to go again on Tuesday night. We got a good response, played well in stages of the game. We got a point but we were disappointed not to win and we have to go out this weekend to get three.

"We are still in the same position - we need to win games. If we don't win we will not go anywhere. There is still an opportunity, we have everybody to play and everybody is playing each other.

"We can catch teams above us but we need to win games to do that. We have to be positive, try and attack and take games to opponents. That is what we will do between now and the end of the season."

Ayr United are the first of two consecutive home games and the Pars record against Ayr is good. Potter dwelt firstly however on the need to win games:-

"It was the same on Tuesday night and I was a wee bit disappointed towards the end of the game. Ryan Scully went to get the ball a couple of times and took his time as though we would settle for a point. We made it quite clear after the game that we will not settle for a point in any game.

"We have to try and win and win as many as we can. I would rather have a gamble towards the end of a game trying to win rather than sit and take a point. A point doesn't really get us anywhere.

"I accept that we have a good record against Ayr but they have picked up recently.they are scoring a lot of goals. Since the last time we played them they have a good record and so it will be a difficult game, we know that.

"We need to concentrate on ourselves. Make sure that we do our things right, create chances to score goals and try and win the game."

To go ahead inside the first minute against Brechin City on Tuesday night had everyone thinking that maybe the Pars luck was changing. Potts continued:-

"It has been a while since we got anything like that - it was a great goal from Josh Falkingham. For most of the first half I thought we were on top of the game. It really needed that second goal especially when we were shooting down the wind.

"We got too deep, further and further back. We have got to be brave and push ourselves up. The two substitutions changed it a bit towards the end. Josh was through and Michael Moffat had a chance as well.

"Overall it was still disappointing because we need to win games and hopefully we will do that soon. We have to do it now. We cannot wait any longer and I think we have the capabilities to go on a run. We are working very hard to achieve that."

An update on the squad's fitness merely confirmed that Ryan Wallace is still out despite training on Thursday. Alex Whittle is a doubt after limping off at Forfar.

"The crowd has been fantastic; they turn out in their numbers. They are entitled to do and say that. We are disappointed too and need to win games, scoring goals and we can do that.

"We know that this season has not been good enough but we are the only ones who can change it."
