Steven's sweet and sour success
Saturday, 28th Feb 2015Belly feels it is difficult to see Dunfermline struggling
Steven Bell termed Stranraer's 5-1 win over his old club "a massive result" but still felt bad because it was against opponents that he had great respect for.
"I know they had a player sent off but I thought we started really well, taking the game to them. After getting the goal we let them equalise with a sloppy goal from our point of view. A good goal from their point of view but we upped it from then on and dominated. It was pleasing to come off having won 5-1.
"We knew that we had to go out and give it our all because Dunfermline are a massive club. I was there for four years and I know how big a club it is.
"For me there is something not right with them for me. As soon as we went 2-1 and 3-1 up you could see the heads go down. Credit to ourselves for keeping the pressure on them and getting the victory.
"I must admit that it is difficult for me to see them struggling like that. I have still got a lot of friends at Dunfermline. One of my best pals is Andy Geggan and he has gone there since I left. He knows how big a club it is and it is difficult.
"Obviously I get a bit of abuse from the fans, home and away, but there are a lot of good people at that club and it is difficult to see them in that position. At the end of the day I have got to be professional and go out and do a job for Stranraer.
"It was a bit emotional at the end but I am always emotional when I play Dunfermline for some reason because of what happened to me there. That is three victories in a row against them and not a lot of clubs will do that against them.
"I want us to go up but I hope they do well because they don't deserve to be in League One for a club of their stature. They need to get it right on the pitch."
