Managers Post Stranraer

- - Listen to John Potter Post Stranraer

The Pars went behind in just ten minutes and although Andy Geggan headed in an equaliser the much hoped for win was made well nigh impossible after losing Gregor Buchanan to a red card and then losing two goals before half time. Potts told the media:-

"We didn't start great, they got the first goal but obviously we got back in it from a free kick but the sending off totally changed the game. It has killed us. Gregor was adamant that he couldn't move and he had to get out of the way.

"The referee said that to the players but the linesman sent him off. I don't know, I have not seen it again. I am just going on what Gregor and the referee said.

"They got a couple of quick goals and that made things difficult from there on. It was disappointing."

There was absolutely no doubt in the manager's mind that the sending off had been the critical point of the whole game:-

"We had just got back in it at 1-1. We were doing okay and there was not much in it. It totally changed with the sending off. The quick goals deflated us and picked them up. The sending off was the key point of the game.

"It is my worst day as a manager. I am hurting, all the players will be hurting and it is a hard one to take."

Were there any positives?

"Lewis Allan - I thought that he played well and was unlucky not to score. He is just a young kid at eighteen years old but he showed great maturity. He played very well in the game so for me that probably is the only positive in the game - his performance, his work rate and his attitude.

"It is a sore one to take and it hurts but we have to prepare right for that. It hurts every player and every member of staff, like it does the fans, it is hard to take. It is only us who can change it and it is up to us to go out and prove on Tuesday night that we are better than that and we need to do that very quickly. "

The target for every club is promotion so the manager agreed that Dunfermline cannot afford any more slip ups if they want to keep those hopes alive:-

"We have to win games, it is as simple as that and we are not doing it. We have not done that in the last two or three weeks and we have to start winning games of football to see where that can take us from there.

"We are not doing it at the moment so we need to work hard to make sure that we can in the near future."
