Gregor's eyes on Stair Park points
Friday, 27th Feb 2015"Stranraer is the one we have to focus on to get three points."
Gregor Buchanan hopes that Dunfermline can produce a good performance and win the game at Stranraer on Saturday. He would be happy to be on the scoresheet again and repeat the goal he scored at Stair Park in the William Hill Scottish Cup tie. Back in November Gregor's header sent his team two goals up but they allowed Stranraer to come back and snatch a draw. He told the website:-
"We were really disappointed in the last game down there because we played really well. We were on top for probably 80 minutes of the game and seemed to be comfortable."
Late goals from Willie Gibson and an own goal in 95 minutes allowed Stranraer to level the cup tie and this League One meeting will be no easier given the Galloway side are top of the table. The Pars vice captain acknowledged that it will be another tough match for a Dunfermline team that has won just twice in eleven games.
"They are going well this season but we have always done quite well down there, it a place that we like to go. there are 33 points to play for and we just have to get as many as we can and take it from there at the end of the season."
Gregor hopes that the short time period between games will allow the team to get straight back into a game and try to make right things better.
"They come even better when you are winning games but we have to keep focussed on one game at a time. Stranraer is the one we have to focus on to get three points."
Spirits were high and feelings positive after the consecutive wins over Ayr United and Stenhousemuir but Gregor claimed that the buzz those wins gave has not disappeared:-
"That has not changed in a massive way - two 1-0 defeats don't feel like the end of the world but they were two big games and two very important games for us. We need to push for promotion by winning games so that we would have an edge going into play offs if that is where you are.
"It is going to be another three game week and we could walk away with nine points, that would turn things around again. Everybody has been beating everybody this season and you couldn't pick who is going to win every week in the five games. There is still another round of fixtures to go and we will see what happens."
This is the fifth meeting between the sides this season so there will clearly be some familiarity:-
"We know how Stranraer play and I am sure that they will know how we play. On our day if we go and play the way we can, we can be excellent like in the first half on Thursday night. If we had scored we would have gone on the win the game comfortably. It seems to be a wee bit of a problem this season scoring goals so if we can take chances early we feel that we can win the game on Saturday."
