Manager on Thursday
Thursday, 26th Feb 201526/02/15: JP - "We have not been good enough defensively and not good at scoring goals and reacting to chances in the other box."
John Potter has seen his team's two wins followed by two defeats. He told the website:-
"You want to win every game and when you lose games you are disappointed but I spoke to the players this morning and told them that we have to go again. We have two options now, we fight to get into the play offs or we throw the towel in and the season peters out. We need to work hard, do the right things and start climbing up the league again.
"That was always been my way as a player and I think I have the team there that will do it as well. We need to stick together; we know that we are getting a bit of stick from fans at the moment but probably deserve so. We need to go out and do our bit and try and get results to get everybody back on our side again."
In losing to Brechin it was little things that didn't go the Pars way and there was no luck in the breaks either:-
"I thought that we played really well in the first half, the only thing that we didn't do was cause them problems in the final third, I would admit that. The offside goal was unlucky and then the goal that Brechin got was a mistake from a bobble on the pitch. We had time to rectify that; we didn't do it and we can do better with that.
"At Forfar it wasn't a great game but a wonder goal won it but we again had enough chances. It is small things that are missing and maybe it will take a few little things to start going our way to get that wee bit luck that will hopefully get some wins."
"If you look at the way we played on Tuesday night I don't think that you could say that is a team playing with fear. We got into dangerous areas and are prepared to pass it. That is the way we want to play, I just think that we can be a wee bit more cutting edge in the final third.
"From box to box I think we are good but games are usually won or lost in the penalty box. That is where we have not been good enough, we have not been good enough defensively and not good at scoring goals and reacting to chances in the other box. That is the most important bit and that is the bit that is letting us down."
The gaffer feels that Stranraer are ideal opponents on Saturday.
"It will be difficult we know that but it is a good game when you are disappointed. You want to play the top teams and we have a decent enough record there.
"We have a couple of disappointing results in the last two games. We know that we need to start winning games now. It is as simple as that so we will be going out with a positive team in a positive shape and go and try and win the game."
On the injury front Ryan Wallace is the only player likely to be missing since all the others were training on Thursday. After consulting with the player, the manager has agreed to allow Andy Stirling to go out on loan to Stirling Albion.
"I couldn't guarantee him games here and he wants to go and play every week. They have offered that to him so I am prepared to let him go out on loan. It has maybe not worked out the way we wanted it to for him and hopefully he we go and do well for Stirling Albion. He won't play against Dunfermline when we play them."
