Paul happy to pitch in at East End Park

Paul George made his Dunfermline debut in Saturday's match against Stenhousemuir.

With Andy Barrowman snatching a winner in the fourth minute of added time, it had a dramatic finale. The former Celtic youth gave his opinions on the game:-

"I have not really played a lot of league games so that was my first taste of something like that.
It was a good one to come on in because for the full second half we were on top. It was always going to come and I was delighted we got the goal in the last minute.

"I felt that we dominated the game in the first half, it was a very open game so it was good for me to come on to it and have a go at the defence. They sat off a lot which made it hard to break them down. In the end we managed to do so.

"When we went 2-0 down thankfully Barra got the goal just on the stroke of half time. That changed the game a bit and they went in there thinking that they were disappointed to concede the goal. It meant that we came out and pushed to get the second one."

Things had not looked so good when a 69th minute penalty was saved by Stenny keeper Greg Fleming but that didn't fill the new man with fear.

"I just thought that we would have to keep going and thankfully we did. The second goal gave us the momentum to get the third."

His previous league experience was six appearances in the Championship while on loan to Hamilton Accies at the end of last season but this was his first taste of League One.

"I took a few kicks and knocks when I first came on. I was just trying to break them down, take on a few players and try and show what I can do in front of the Dunfermline fans.

"I enjoyed it and I think the fans played a big part as well. When we got the second goal they pushed us on which helped us get the next one."

Paul got only five minutes notice that he was going to be introduced at the beginning of the second half:- "I was told to go and warm up."

Having played at East End Park before in the Celtic under 20s, as a winger, Paul George appreciates its width. "It is good for me and the crowd gives you a lift."

That lift will hopefully be at Station Park Forfar next Saturday, Paul continued:-

"Scoring in the last minute means that the team spirit is good. I have only been in for a week but you can see everybody is together, it is a good place to be at the minute."
