Thursday, 29th Jan 201529/01/15: "Results are the most important thing at the moment. If we are going to do anything and start climbing the league we need to start winning games of football.
John Potter gave his first Thursday interview from East End Park and confirmed that training would continue at Queen Anne High School and Dunfermline High School until such time as McKane Park is prepared for football training.
"Being here is great. We spoke to the board a month to six weeks ago and they have done everything that we have asked. We have some things to keep the boys entertained between sessions and they are delighted to be here."
When John was at the club from 1999 to 2002 the dressing rooms were still located in the main stand and it was just in his final seasons that the facility in the undercroft of the McCathie Stand was completed.
"We have tried to make it as smooth as possible. The Carnegie gym is just along the road and so we have been in there most days doing sessions. The boys have enjoyed moving back up and there is a good spirit amongst them. They are closer together here and hopefully that makes a difference on the pitch."
The fixture against Ayr United on Saturday provides Dunfermline the opportunity to end a seven game run without a win but John Potter predicts it will be a tough one given the opposition will be trying to end their own run of thirteen matches without a win.
"We have a decent enough record against Ayr but Ian McCall has signed a couple of players and I imagine he will be trying to sign a couple more in the next couple of days. As usual we have had them watched so we know what we are going into."
Confirming that he has an almost full squad to select from Potts is hoping that the changes he has made since taking over will make a difference on the pitch.
"Results are the most important thing at the moment. If we are going to do anything and start climbing the league we need to start winning games of football. That is what we are not doing but that is something that we will be trying to change this weekend."
Ryan Williamson is still on the injury list but he has started running in the recuperation following his dislocated knee cap and should return within the next month. Ryan Wallace has had a set back and I'd not expected to be available for Somerset Park this weekend.
John Potter said that Ross Perry will not be his next signing despite having had the player training with them recently:-
"He looked okay but we did not offer him anything. He was in again on Monday and Tuesday and when he asked if there was a deal there, I said not at the moment. He has chosen to have a look about elsewhere which is up to him."
So are there any arrivals or departures expected in the next few days?
"Hopefully, I am hoping to hear back from a couple of people today or tomorrow. There is nothing definite, it might not be until Monday before it happens. We are looking at a couple of loans if we can and maybe one signing as well. Things take time and you have to wait on players coming in at other clubs."
And so it is on to Ayr on Saturday and the manager has advised his players not to dwell on results:-
"We have got to be positive, there is no point in looking back on where we are, how we are there or why we have not won. We have got to look forward. There are 45 points to play for, a lot of games and it up to us to start picking up points as soon as possible. We know what we have to do and it is up to us to go and do it on the pitch."
