Potter ensures the return of a Par

One out one in as Andy Barrowman returns after an absence of 22 months

John Potter was delighted to have made his second signing of his managerial career and it was the return of striker Andy Barrowman. Andy leaves Morton after playing 19 games for them, last season he was at Livingston and after leaving Dunfermline in March 2013 he was at Dundee. The Pars gaffer said:-

"He was one that I knew I wanted straight away as soon as I got the job. I didn't think that it was going to happen but we made contact again last week and thought that there was a wee chance.

"He brings a lot to the team. Great to have a guy like that come in, somebody who is desperate to come here. As soon as he knew that we were interested he was desperate to make it happen.

"He loved his time here and it was cut short due to administration. He was devastated to leave, he loves the place, loves the club and is just keen to get started and get us up the league."

John Potter feels that Andy is a clever player who leads the line well.

"He has a bit of everything, he is a striker who holds the ball in well and scores his fair share of goals. I am looking for him to try and bring more out of the guys that we have as well. Previously he linked in well with Ryan Wallace, I think he will be a good foil for Michael Moffat and Allan Smith. It gives us good competition for places up front, experience and leadership.

"Some of the places that you go to in this league can be difficult and he is one who can lead from the front and by example. The way that we are creating chances and getting balls into the box from corners I think that he can score a lot of goals.

"It is more than that, other players around him will feed off him and gain confidence from him. He can be the foil as that so called target man upfront. There are different games where you need different types of strikers. We have seen that this season and we have never really had that option.

"We had tried Gozie Ugwu and Ryan Thomson but for me Andy is quite natural up there. He knows the place, he will settle in from day one and knows all the young players and staff. He will come in and hit the ground running from tomorrow morning."

It is possible that Andy could be able to assist with the Under 20s but Potts had made it clear that he wants him first and foremost as a player.

The Pars gaffer confirmed that Ross Forbes' registration at Dunfermline Athletic has been cancelled and is expected to go the other way to Morton.

"Jim Duffy asked about Ross and when I put it to him, Ross said that he wanted to speak to them. I did not have a problem with that. It was his call at the end of the day. If he wanted to stay I was fine with that but if he wanted to go, then I would let him go. It frees up money for me to use elsewhere and get Andy in. It suited everybody and I needed to freshen up the squad. If it means a few going out to let a few come in then I am prepared to do that."

The manager hinted that there might be more movement later in the week. "I will tell you when it happens."
