The Pars Shirt Auction
Sunday, 11th Jan 2015Silent auction with bidding closing on 31st January
Bob Storie has been a Pars fan for many years, but he’s also been much more than that. He’s been a match programme contributor for about twenty years, a shirt sponsor, and a leading light in the establishment of the Former Players Association at East End Park.
For a long time Bob has been an avid collector of Pars shirts and he has accumulated a huge number of Pars first team jerseys. These include team shirts signed by the whole squad, players’ shirts from sponsorship that Bob provided, and shirts from important matches such as recent European and Cup matches. They are also all authentic original shirts as worn by the players themselves.
Anyway, the point of this introduction is this: Bob has decided to part with his collection and to donate all of the proceeds back to the Football Club. It is a fantastic opportunity for collectors, and a real chance for DAFC to earn some very useful cash from Bob’s generosity. So over the next few months we are going to feature one of Bob’s shirts in each issue of Black&White and to give fans a chance to see what’s on offer, we’ve had our photographer Craig Brown take pictures of the entire collection.
When he heard about what Bob intended to do, Director Ross McArthur said, “This is a remarkable gesture by Bob and another indication of our fans’ tremendous generosity in supporting our club. We’d like to thank him very much.”
LOT NUMBER 1
Dunfermline Athletic Legends v Ajax Amateurs. Match played at East End Park, Sunday 20th January 2008 to raise funds for various local charitable causes
This is the shirt worn by Pars former striker Ross Jack for this match (the only time it was worn) and is signed by around twenty of the former Pars legends who played that day including Davie Irons, Ray Farningham, Jim Bowie, Kenny Thomson, Jim Leishman, Roy Barry, John Watson, Graeme Robertson, Bobby Robertson and Dave Young. Our picture shows Bob Storie with Head Coach John Potter showing off the jersey that is for auction.
AUCTION BIDDING PROCESS
The auction will be a silent auction. Bids must be made by email to Jason Barber at jason@dafc.net but there will be no communication about the bids to anyone until the winning bid is announced. The closing dates for bids to be received for Lot Number 1 is 10.00pm on Saturday 31st January 2015. Once the winning bid has been confirmed and verified, the winning bidder will require to make payment of the full amount direct to DAFC (details will be provided). The winning bid will be announced in the match programme, website and social media on Saturday 7th February 2015.
All proceeds from any shirts auctioned by Bob will go direct to DAFC without any deduction whatsoever so this is a real chance to help your favourite club. The next lot will appear in the 17th January issue of Black&White. In the meantime, get bidding!
